Question: Is Your Storefront Open to the Public?

Absolutely. Come visit us at 553 Hayward Avenue North, Oakdale, MN 55128. Our public store is located on the west end of our production building. It might not look as fancy as some other jewelry stores on the outside, but looks can be deceiving! Our store always boasts a wide selection of in stock rings and accessories, free coffee to sip on while you shop, consultation rooms available if you’d like some private time with a designer.

Question: Do I Need to Make an Appointment for a Design Consultation?

No appointments are necessary, but we do recommend you call 651-321-9267 or use our online appointment scheduler in advance to guarantee one-on-one attention. Design consultations at our design center are a fun, relaxed way to learn about custom jewelry design, styles, and potential costs (it’s usually a lot more affordable than expected). Our ring consultations are free of charge, and you are under no obligation to make a purchase. Appointments typically last about 60 minutes and can be scheduled Monday - Friday, 9am and 4:15pm CST; weekday evening and weekend appointments by request and subject to availability.

Question: What is Your Current Production Lead-time for Custom Items?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our turn-around times listed below will be delayed as our production facility has been mandated to close. Please see our full message for more information.

Turn-around time for made-to-order items is 2-5 weeks* (necessary shipping/transit time not included), dependent on metal, materials and design complexity.

Platinum items turn-around 7-9 weeks.

After payment is received and an accurate ring size is confirmed, your ring will be scheduled for production the next business day.

*Turnaround time will be longer if:

1) You opt for our no-interest lay-away plan, JBJ Flex Pay (after your balance is paid in full, your ring will be scheduled for production).

2) You order a custom ring sizer or free ring sizing kit (after you tell us your accurate ring size, your ring will be scheduled for production).

If your order is time-sensitive, we recommend calling to discuss desired delivery dates based on your purchase date. The estimated timeline is from the purchase date (SHIPPING TIME NOT INCLUDED). Custom orders that require CAD and/or casting services can take longer depending on materials and the complexity of the design.

Question: Can I Special Order Rings In Sizes Not Available for Order Online?

Yes! Because we handcraft nearly everything in-house, we can make most rings in US sizes 2-22! Shop our plus size wedding bands collection, which features some of our top-sellers available in plus sizes. Please note, rings in sizes 13.25 and larger typically cost more than standard sized rings due to an increase in metal, materials, gemstones, etc. required for larger sizes. If you find a ring design in our online store that doesn’t allow you to select your desired size in the drop-down size selector, simply contact us to confirm size availability and to request a custom quote.

Question: Do You Have In Stock Rings That Ship Out Sooner?

Yes, we have an ever-changing collection of in stock rings that ship out within 3-5 days (SKUs begin with RS).

In addition, our In Stock Signature Styles are always available and ship within 3-5 days (SKUs begin with SIG).

Question: Do You Offer Engraving Services?

We offer FREE, laser text engraving of up to 25 characters with a variety of fonts to choose from!

We also have a laser image engraving add-on; this is most commonly used to add images of symbols, icons, fingerprints and other patterns. In most cases, we can use your digital, hand-drawn, or printed picture for an image engraving.

Engraving notes:

  • If your ring is 4mm or less, we can only use the Gulim or Cambriafonts.
  • We cannot engrave rings if they are 2mm wide or thinner.
  • We cannot engrave on materials coated with ring armor (e.g. wood, antler, crushed dinosaur bone) or on mokume.
  • If you are ordering an item crafted in black ceramic or tungsten AND you want to have it engraved, we require that you also purchase a custom sizer. Unlike most other metals, we are unable to remove custom engravings from returned items crafted in black ceramic or tungsten (rendering them of $0 resell value). The purchase of a custom sizer is the best way to ensure your ring is the perfect fit before adding the custom engraving.

Question: Do you ship internationally?

Absolutely! We ship to customers all around the globe.

Question: What if my Custom Ring Doesn’t Arrive in Time for my Wedding?

If you have ordered a custom ring that you know, based on our current production lead-time, won’t be completed in time for your wedding ceremony, or in the uncommon event your item does not arrive as originally scheduled, we offer stand-in rings to use on your special day.  These are fully refundable.

Question: What Information is Required as Part of the Design Process?

Please be sure to provide the following information during your purchase or within the first three (3) days of the design process to ensure delivery dates. Any changes to your ring order after the three (3) day deadline may result in a delay in production and delivery.

Ring Size

We highly recommend you order our custom ring sizers. They are the most accurate way to determine your size and fit. And, if you order a ring sizer, but still receive your final ring in the wrong size, we will remake it in the correct size for no cost to you!

Ring Width

A trick to help gauge width options: 1 US nickel = 2mm. The most common width for a men’s wedding band is 8mm.

Metal Choice

We offer nearly all types of metal to bring your vision to reality. Most designs can be crafted with the metal of your choice, but there are exceptions to this with a limited number of ring styles. Please note, our white gold items are not rhodium plated. Learn more about metal types and view our complete list of metal options.

Inlay Material Choice

When/if we email you images of material color options to choose from (e.g. dino bone or antler), we need confirmation of your choice within 24 hours of your receiving it.

We offer free text engraving (up to 25 characters), expedited shipping, shipping insurance, and more.

Question: Why Isn't Your White Gold Rhodium Plated?

We like to showcase the natural beauty of white gold, which does have a a very subtle yellow tint when not plated, rather than cover it up with another metal. Visit our metal options page for an illustration of the color difference between plated and un-plated white gold. Plus, rhodium plating is subject to wear and chipping making it much higher maintenance; it's recommended to re-plate every 1-2 years.

Question: Do You Offer Rush Orders on Custom Creations?

We do not offer rush orders at this time. All custom orders are inserted into our production queue after being paid in full.

We do offer both expedited US and International shipping options for an additional fee.

Question: How Can I Clean and Care for My Custom Ring?

Sales Tax Collection: Based on a June 2018 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, many states are now requiring out-of-state sellers to collect sales tax. All reputable retailers are complying with the new laws and collecting sales tax. If you have questions about sales tax collection, please email us or call customer service at (651) 321-9267.

*Due to PayPal's 2019 change in its User Agreement for online sellers, any orders originally processed through PayPal that are cancelled and/or result in a refund will be refunded the amount due minus PayPal's processing fees of 2.9% + $0.30.

Question: What Type of Shipping Options Are Available?

We will ship to anywhere on the globe.

USPS Priority (FREE) –Continental US. Arrives in 2-3 business days. Our free, domestic shipping option does not include insurance, but you do have the option to purchase it; it will be calculated based on the value of your purchase.

USPS Priority ($24) – To Canada. Arrives in 3-5 business days, excluding time in customs.

USPS Priority (calculated based on location)– Rest of the World. Arrives in 6-10 business days, excluding time in customs.

United Parcel Service (calculated based on location) – Required for all International orders over $400.

Shipping Insurance and/or Signature on Delivery can be added at the time of checkout. If your purchase has already been processed, call 651-321-9267 or E-mail and we can assist with adding those services.

Note: International Buyers are responsible for international duties.

Shipping internationally will go smoothly most of the time. Every so often, a package can get stuck in customs. Jewelry By Johan is not responsible for customs-related delays in delivery. We will do everything in our power to help expedite any issues.

Question: What Happens if my Package Gets Stolen or Lost?

We are not responsible for your item after it leaves the premises of Jewelry by Johan. We strongly recommend you purchase shipping insurance to cover your items from loss, damage or theft. All extra charges have to be paid before any item is shipped.

Question: Do You Offer a Discount if I Buy Multiple Items?

Yes. We offer a 5% discount off total regular price purchase of two or more rings. This discount cannot be combined with any other offer or promo code.

Question: Do You Offer a Discount to Members of the Military?

Yes. We offer a 7% discount off total purchase to military personnel. The discount can't be combined with any other discount or offer. The discount does not apply to shipping. Please provide one of the following three acceptable forms of proof:

  • Written statement of verification of military service from a member’s chain of command (no form letter provided; just a signed letter confirming member’s current military status.)
  • Proof of Service letter – found in vMPF under Self-Service actions/Personal Data – confirms service dates
  • Statement of service of local personnel office – signed letter confirming military status

Question: I Purchased (Or Have Received a Quote For) My Item and Now It’s On Sale. Can I Get it For the Sale Price?

Upon request, we will honor promotional pricing for purchases (or quotes) up to 3 business days prior to the start of, or 3 business days after the official end date of, a sale.

If you paid in full, we will issue a refund for the difference. If you are on a payment plan, we will adjust the remaining balance on your invoice to reflect the sale price. If you have received a quote, but haven't placed your order, we will send you a new invoice with promotional pricing.

Promo codes cannot be applied to discounted items and cannot be used in combination with another discount. Promo codes cannot be applied to past purchases.

Question: What Are Your Return and Cancellation Policies?

Jewelry by Johan personally guarantees all of our rings to be free from defects and to be the ring you ordered or we will replace it for you.

Returns: If for any reason you decide to return your purchase, you must do so within 10 days of receipt. Jewelry by Johan will apply an in store credit to your account and has the right to use that credit at our discretion for your ring. That credit will be used to repair or replace and ship said ring to satisfy our guarantee to you the customer. The Guarantee is effective for one (1) year from the date you receive your ring, this date remains the effective date of the guarantee. If you take the ring to any other jeweler to get it resized, engraved, or repaired in any way, the warranty is void.

Return Policy: Returns will be accepted for IN-STORE-CREDIT as long as the returned merchandise is in normal condition based on how long you have had the product. We are not responsible for “Acts of God”, misuse, or abuse while your purchase is not in our possession.

In-Store Credit: We are happy to use the in-store credit towards any item on our website. Please note that the in-store credit cannot be used on shipping costs or duties and taxes.

If You Order the Incorrect Size:Because of the nature of our unique materials, our rings cannot be resized. When we make your ring, we create it according to the information you provide. If for any reason the information you provide is incorrect,there is a 20% remake fee, however if your item is crafted in a precious metal, contains a meteorite inlay, or contains a mokume inlay, the remake fee is 35%. Items crafted with customer-supplied materials (wood, antler, ashes, etc.) are subject to a 50% remake fee. Your original ring must be returned to us within 10 days to qualify for these remake fees. If you desire the original design to be remade in a different size, you must purchase a custom sizer in that size in order to qualify for the remake fee.

Our custom ring sizers are crafted in the width and size of your desired item and allow for easy and accurate assessment of your size. If you purchased a custom ring sizer and it fits, and an item you receive is made in the wrong size, we will re-make the item for no cost (valid one time). Signature Styles can be exchanged for the correct size (only whole and half sizes available); simply contact us within ten days to arrange an exchange. If your desired size is not available in stock, our turn-around time for production would apply.

Engraved Rings: If there are any defects in your engraving that we are responsible for, it qualifies for our return policy.

Canceling the Sale: You may cancel your order within three business days after your order confirmation containing your estimated shipping date is sent and you will receive a full refund. The only exception to this is if your order was originally processed through PayPal. Due to PayPal's 2019 change in its User Agreement for online sellers, any orders originally processed through PayPal that are cancelled and/or result in a refund will be refunded the amount due minus PayPal's processing fees of 2.9% + $0.30.

Orders canceled after this duration will be issued a 50% refund in the form of in store credit. We reserve the right to cancel any sale or order at any time.

Please note, our refund policy reflects the nature of the custom, handmade process.

Question: Do You Offer an Extended Warranty?

We offer lifetime meteorite ring protection, which means that you get to wear your meteorite ring care-free. Send us your meteorite ring for free cleaning and re-etching, a $75 value. You only pay for shipping and we’ll do our best to make your jewelry look as good as new. Similarly, all of our antler and wood rings are sealed with a proprietary product we call Ring Armor to help protect and greatly increase the water-resistance of your inlay. If, anytime after your purchase, you find a chink in your Ring Armor, we’ll redo it for free if the material underneath is not damaged, a $35 value.

Adding your items to your home-owners insurance policy is a low-cost way to cover yourself in the event of loss, damage, theft etc. Coverage costs will vary dependent on your item value and geography, but for most people, insuring your jewelry will cost 1-2% of its value (e.g. a $5,000 ring will cost you an additional $50-$100 annually). Or, Jeweler’s Mutual offers affordable insurance coverage.

Handmade Jewelry Disclaimer

Many of our items may contain natural materials that vary from specimen to specimen. This means that items may be different than the images and the specifications provided in the description. Natural materials have different color hues, tints, shades, tones, textures, and natural cracks.
