Cremation jewelry with the ashes set into the piece

Most cremation jewelry keeps ashes in a compartment. We make those too. But the method we developed in 2009 works differently. A channel is machined into the piece, the ashes are set into that channel, and the whole inlay is sealed under Ring Armor, a clear protective coating. There is nothing to unscrew and nothing that can work loose. The ashes become part of the piece, and you can see them.

Johan tried it the morning after a customer asked whether a horse's ashes could go into a ring. It held, and we have been refining it ever since. Read how cremation ash jewelry is made.

Cremation rings for men

Wider bands from 6mm to 10mm in titanium, tungsten, black ceramic, black zirconium, Damascus, gold and platinum. A wider band holds a larger inlay, so more of the ashes stay visible. Men often choose a single wide channel, sometimes divided by a metal pinstripe, and often paired with meteorite or dinosaur bone. Cufflinks are a common choice for a father or grandfather.

Cremation jewelry for women

Narrower bands from 2mm, stacking rings, pendants and bracelets. A narrow band takes a finer inlay, which suits ashes mixed with crushed birthstone or backed with colored enamel. Many women choose a piece that sits alongside an existing wedding set rather than replacing it.

What can be set into a piece besides ashes

Hair. Dried flower petals from the funeral. Sand or soil from a place that mattered. A string from their guitar. Wood from a tree on their property. Ashes can be combined with any of these, or with meteorite, dinosaur bone, antler, wood or crushed stone. There is no metal we cannot set an inlay into.

Handmade in Minnesota since 2009

We opened in 2008 with a lathe in a garage and made our first ash inlay in January 2009. Since then we have made pieces for more than 200,000 customers. Everything is made by hand in our workshop in Oakdale, Minnesota, and everything carries a lifetime craftsmanship warranty.

Materials arrive at our building and stay there. They are labeled and photographed on arrival, kept in a locked room, and scanned against your job order number at every step, so we always know where a set of ashes has been, who handled it and when. Anything we do not use comes home in the container you sent it in, in the same box as the finished piece.

Cremation Jewelry & Memorial Rings FAQs

How do I get started?

Order the piece you want. Your confirmation email includes straightforward instructions for packing and shipping the ashes safely. Production takes about 20 business days once we have your materials and your size.

Is cremation jewelry a good idea?

That depends on what helps you, and there is no wrong answer. Some people want their loved one close every day. Others find that a piece kept in a drawer and worn on an anniversary is enough. What we hear most often is that having a small amount of the ashes in something wearable took the pressure off the rest of the decision, because scattering or storing everything at once no longer had to happen right away.

How much does it cost to turn ashes into jewelry?

Our memorial pieces range from around $200 for a titanium band to several thousand for platinum with diamonds. Most customers spend between $400 and $900. There is no extra charge for setting the ashes and no customization fee, so a custom design costs the same as the same piece off the shelf.

What finger do you wear a cremation ring on?

There is no rule. Widows and widowers often move their wedding ring to the right hand and wear a memorial ring on the left, or the reverse. Others wear it on the index or middle finger, or on a chain. Wear it wherever it feels right.

How long do ashes last in a memorial ring?

Indefinitely. Cremated remains are inert mineral material, so they do not decay, fade or break down. Sealed under Ring Armor they are protected from moisture and everyday wear, and if the coating is ever damaged we repair it free for the life of the piece.

Do you make cremation jewelry for men?

Yes. Wider bands from 6mm to 10mm in titanium, tungsten, black ceramic, black zirconium, Damascus, gold and platinum, plus cufflinks, dog tags and bracelets. A wider band means a larger visible inlay, room for more inlays, or you could go with an offset design.

Can I put ashes in a ring that is not listed as memorial?

Yes, and plenty of people do. Any ring on our site with an inlay channel can hold ashes, including a meteorite band, a wood ring or a wedding band. Find a design you like anywhere in our catalogue and use the customize button on it (near the add to cart button).
