Greenery is The 2017 Pantone Color of the Year Wedding Inspiration

The 2017 Pantone Color of the Year has finally been announced and it is just as radiant and beautiful as we had hoped. This year’s color of the year is...Greenery!

Each year, Pantone, the leading provider of color systems in a variety of industries, chooses one great color to represent what is happening in our world that year. Pantone’s exact definition of the color of the year is “A symbolic color selection; a color snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.”

In the last few years, Pantone has debuted lovely shades of soft pink (Rose Quartz), periwinkle blue (Serenity), and other somewhat feminine shades of pinkish red (Marsala & Honeysuckle), purple (Radiant Orchid), deep green (Emerald), and orange (Tangerine Tango). This year’s Pantone Color of the Year, Greenery, goes in a completely new and refreshing direction.

Pantone’s Color Intelligence page tells us that this year’s shade is “symbolic of new beginnings” and “evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.” We couldn’t agree more. With its zesty hint of yellow, this bright and happy hue makes us want to start our spring cleaning a little early this year. When it comes to jewelry design, we’re inspired by nature.

Here at Jewelry by Johan, we take elements from the earth and make beautiful statement pieces and wedding jewelry from it. We believe that the world has beauty to offer to us, and we should show off its beauty through style and accessories. So for us, the announcement of this nature-inspired color of the year was exciting. With the peak wedding season fast approaching, we have no doubt that fresh hues of green will once again take over weddings around the world.

From flower arrangements and centerpieces to bridesmaid dresses and wedding jewelry, we expect Greenery to makes its grand debut in every aspect of the wedding world. Whether you pair it with purple, pink, blue, or maroon, Greenery goes with just about any color you can think of. We’ve collected some gorgeous Greenery-inspired wedding elements below.

Green Wedding Color Schemes

Whether your wedding is going to be rustic, industrial, boho or modern, Greenery can (and most likely will) be worked into almost any theme and decor. Since flowers and plants are incorporated in virtually everyone’s wedding, green is a hue you will continue to see in every wedding this year. Below are some fantastic Greenery-inspired color combinations we found on Pinterest.

Greenery Inspired Wedding Jewelry

Next is our favorite category - the jewelry! While large crystal clear diamond engagement rings may be a bit more mainstream, we prefer something unique. Something with nature-inspired style and bright, eye catching details.

Green Wedding Bands

Materials such as jade, chrysocolla, green burl wood and malachite are just a few of the ways to create unique, green wedding bands.

Green Engagement Rings

Opt for an emerald or peridot for the feature stone to create an amazing green engagement ring. Or, achieve the green color with a material inlay such as desert mosaic, one of our colorful gem alloy options.

Greenery-Inspired Wedding Centerpieces, Decor, & Flowers

Your wedding flowers and decor can make a sterile reception venue go from boring to beautiful. Just a touch of greenery on each table can completely transform the space into an inviting, festive dinner party. A huge trend we’re seeing these days is dual purpose centerpieces. Set out an assortment of succulents or mini mason jars filled with assorted greens on each table and allow your guests to each take one home as party favors. This is a great way to get rid of centerpieces, eliminate items to pack up at the end of the night, and gives your guests lovely centerpieces to display at home that will remind them of your big night.

Greenery-Inspired Wardrobe

If you’re planning on having green as your main wedding color, you’re in luck. Almost any other accent color will look great up against this lush hue. While purple is its complementary color, navy blue, maroon, and even a deep chocolate brown will also work with green. Here are some ideas to get your gears turning.

Greenery-Inspired Stationery

Your wedding stationery is where your guests get their first glimpse into the style of your wedding. Find a wedding invitation designer who can create a cohesive set of stationery that incorporates your green hue with lush leaves and a pop of your accent color. Whether you choose swirly and elaborate or a modern sans-serif font, green hues will give guests the instant feel of simplistic nature that they can expect to see on your big day.
